JOHN LOUIS REWALT 72 of Washington, MI. died Sunday, July 31, 2011 in his home after a brief illness. Mr. Rewalt was born October 21, 1938 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Homer and Anna Mae (Keegan) Rewalt. He married Mary Kay Karmon in Mount Clemens on July 2, 1960. John graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1955, earned his Bachelors of Math and Science from Eastern Michigan in 1960 and Masters from the University of Detroit. He retired as an administrator from the Utica School System in 1998 after serving thirty-eight years. John attended St. John and Paul Catholic Church in Washington and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2667 in Richmond. He was an avid golfer having achieved the ultimate "Hole in One" status on the ninth hole of the Meadows in Citrus Hills, Florida where he resided during the winter months. He also was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading and playing euchre and pepper. He is survived by his wife, Kay, sons, David (Karen) of San Francisco and Daniel of Lansing, grandson, Parker, brothers, James (Sandi) of Richmond, Thomas (Linda) of Macomb, Donald (Peggy) of Casco and Ronald (Nancy) of Casco, mother-in-law, Marcella Karmon of
Grand Blanc, in-laws, Delores Lendzion of Grand Blanc, Douglas (Anne) Karmon of Kalamazoo and David (Susan) Karmon of Mt. Pleasant and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 3rd at 11:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor of Holy Family Parish in Memphis will officiate. Visiting will be Tuesday from 1 to 8pm and Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the University of Michigan,Cancer Center, ATTN: Drs. Hafez and Redmond, Urologic Oncology Dept. or the Henry Ford Hospice.
