Irene E. Caughell

IRENE E. CAUGHELL 93 of Columbus Township died Thursday, October 1, 2009 in Medilodge of Richmond after an extended illness. Mrs. Caughell was born September 25, 1916 in Detroit to the late Leo and Antonia (Olbrot) Zychski. She married Gordon Caughell in Detroit on May 11, 1935. Mr. Caughell died in 1967. Irene graduated from Richmond High School in 1933 and was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Columbus Township. She enjoyed baking and gardening. She is survived by her children, William and Guilanna Caughell of Columbus Twp., Diane Caughell of Xenia, Ohio, Judith and John Rhoades of Richmond, Margaret and George Shirkey of Memphis, James and Janet Caughell of Richmond, Marilyn and Michael Simondet of Texas and Susan and Charles Muckle of Rogers City, sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas in 1990, grandchildren, David Caughell in 1987 and Melissa Caughell in 2003 and siblings, Conrad and Anthony Zychski, Cecelia Gutt, Leona Jakubiak, Theresa Sanford, Rosealie, Zychski, Eleanor Kolasinski and Virginia Walenga. A memorial service will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 10:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend Gregory Sprau will officiate. Visiting will be from 9 to 10am. Inurnment will be in Kittridge Cemetery, Columbus Township, Michigan.
