Benjamin Heilig

BENJAMIN JAMES HEILIG age 89 of Riley Twp. died January 30, 2009 in Port Huron Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Heilig was born January 21, 1920 in Minden City, Michigan to the late William and Margaret (Oswald) Heilig. He married Odelia Goniwicha in Harbor Beach, MI. on January 16, 1942. Ben retired in 1982 as a truck driver for United Block and enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and golf. He is survived by his wife, Odelia, sons, Paul of Riley and Dale (Julie) of Lewiston, siblings, Nick, Jerry, Harold, William, Wilford and Jeanette Heilig, Regina Koglin, Lucy Hintz, Winifred Sageman, Catherine Stewart, Gertrude Cerveny, Beatrice Drake and Geneieve Mithoff, eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings, twin brother, Bernard, Clarence, Paul, Ralph and Marcus Heilig, Margaret Peyok and Nona Harris and one grandson. Funeral service will be on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 10:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Monsignor George Browne will officiate. Visiting will be on Sunday from 3 to 8pm and Monday from 9 to 10am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
