Agnes Claire Rumenapp Profile Photo

Agnes started her life as an adventurous little wanderer.  It was said that she felt “free” tramping around the town of Marine City visiting grandparents, aunts, uncles, playing with cousins and friends in her neighborhood.  She lived a simple life filled with love, faith and family.  In 1947, she married Anthony Andrew Rumenapp, the man that shared her beliefs and goals for a life well lived.  With a strong faith in God, a solid work ethic, determination and fierce independence, Anthony and Agnes built a life together on a small farm in Richmond, Michigan.  On that farm they raised six children:  Mary (Kevin) Knapp, Carol (Daryl) Hunt, JoAnn Maddelein, Gerald (Christine) Rumenapp, Ann Rumenapp and Jean (Darrell) Williams. Agnes truly treasured family.  Children were a blessing and she loved to cuddle the babies. Gardening, knitting, sewing and baking for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews brought her joy.  Even in her frail years with limited abilities it was the stories of family that kept a smile on her face and prayers in her heart. To paraphrase one of her granddaughters: “She isn't talking about politics, a smaller waistline, or chasing experiences. She isn't dwelling on past success. Agnes focused on relationships, caring about family and praying.  It's the sun on your face and sharing chocolate with everyone who comes your way.  You can see and feel her love.  A love so strong that you want to emulate love like that to others.” Agnes leaves behind family to carry on her faith-filled, independent nature. In addition to her six children there are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed and remembered by the numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends that she left behind.  A celebration of Agnes’s journey will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church. We can be consoled to believe that Agnes is reunited with her husband Anthony, parents Hiram and Frances Britz, siblings Marian (George) Abram, Elizabeth Britz, Grace Britz, Gerald Britz, Patrick (Mildred) Britz, Robert Britz, Justin (Eillen) Britz and many more family and dear friends that joined the angels before her.
