WARREN JAY VEURINK age 83 of Richmond, formerly of Holland died Saturday, June 7, 2014 in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Veurink was born June 7, 1931 in Holland, MI to the late Gerrit and Margaret Veurink. He graduated from Holland High School in 1949 and served in the United States Coast Guard. He married Lorene Persons in Grand Rapids on June 9, 1976. Warren owned his own upholstery shop in Holland for many years doing prototype jobs for the concept cars for Ford and Chrysler and General Motors Corporations. Warren participated in the original Million Man March which inspired him to form and be an active director for the Urban Youth Ministries of Holland which helped troubled and under privileged children with school work, job and life skills. He is survived by his wife, Lorene, children; Scott (Jan) Veurink of Holland, Marte Hammons of Holland, Beth (Rick) Beltran of Holland, Jack (Jennifer) Edwards of Richmond and Corene Edwards of Saranac, sisters; Barbara (Rev. Arven) Wester of Washington and Maxine Zwiers of Holland, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in The Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond with visiting starting at noon until the time of service at 2:00pm. Reverend Kelsay Parker, pastor will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Rewalt funeral Home in Richmond.
