Vivian G. Smolinski, 76 of Richmond died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 in St. Joseph Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born January 27, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Choplinski) Nowak. She married Jerome Smolinski in Detroit on September 30, 1950. She retired from Hughes and Hatcher clothing store where she worked as an administrative assistant. She was a member and volunteer at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond, board of directors of the Richmond Lions Club, Red Hat Society of Richmond, and friend of the Lois Wagner Memorial Library. Mrs. Smolinski enjoyed reading, dining out, and participating in community activities. She is survived by her brother Ronald (Charlotte) Nowak of Macomb Township, brothers-in-law Ken (Diane) Smolinski of West Branch and Ervin (Wanda) Smolinski of South Branch, sister-in-law Arlene Sadlocha of East Pointe, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerome in 1998. A funeral mass will be Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond. Rev. Joseph Plawecki will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 9 and Friday from 3 to 9 in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond, and Saturday from 10:30 to 11 in the church. A scripture services will be Friday at 8:00pm in the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be directed to St. Augustine Building Fund.
