VIRGINIA ANN WOOD age 75 of Richmond died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 15, 2011 in Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Wood was born June 24, 1936 in Petoskey, MI. to the late William Nelson and Mildred (Cope) Reed. She married Frederick Wood in Richmond in the fall of 1970. Mr. Wood died in 1971. Ginny graduated from Mackinaw City High School in 1953 and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Ferris State College in 1957. She taught school in Reese for one year and was hired into the Richmond High School in 1958 where she taught chemistry and physics for forty-nine years. She was very active in the Science Olympaid Program in Richmond and was the head of the entire program for Macomb County. She retired in 2007. She was a faithful member of the First United Church of Christ in Richmond and served as the church organist. She was also a member of the Richmond Book Club and the Retired Teachers Group. She enjoyed knitting, especially her wool socks, doing crossword puzzles and reading her "Kindle" magazine. She was the proud owner of a whale which she sponsored and has tracked it's whereabouts. She is survived by her niece; Elizabeth (Terrance) Willey of Cheboygan, nephew; Andrew Reed of Kentwood, great nieces; Michele (Burt) Lewis-Goodrich, Amber, MaKenzie and Bethanie Reed, great-nephews; William and Robert Reed, great-great nephews; Robert and Jacob Goodrich, niece-in-law, Lynn Perry of Grand Rapids, cousins; Jack Weiszer and Mary Vanderlan and families and many dear, dear friends. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Frederick on June 19, 2002, her brother; William Nelson Reed in 1991 and her nephew; William Reed on Nov 5, 2010. A funeral service will be on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 10:30am in the First United Church of Christ. Reverend Jennifer Long, pastor will officiate. Urial will be in Levering, MI. Visiting will be Sunday from 2 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Monday from 10 to 10:30am in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the F.U.C.C
