Thomas Jakubiak

Thomas Michael Jakubiak, 59 of Columbus Twp. died in his home Wednesday, May 7, 2008 after an extended illness. He was born November 1, 1948 in St. Clair to the late Anthony and Mary (Macilowski) Jakubiak. He graduated from Memphis High School in 1967 and married Claudia Harmon on September 5, 1969 in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Tom worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 0687 and St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Columbus Twp. where he served as an usher. He enjoyed restoring tractors, classic cars, gardening, NASCAR, and mostly spending time with his family. He is survived by wife Claudia, daughter Bethany (Scott) Becker of Clinton Twp., son Craig (Randi) Jakubiak of Marysville, grandchildren: Peyton and Chelsea Becker and Alex and Lukas Jakubiak, brothers: Leonard (Gloria) Jakubiak of Naubinway, John (Gerry) Jakubiak of Wales Twp., Dan (Rose) Jakubiak of Wales Twp. and A.J. (Lynn) Jakubiak of Kenockee Twp., sisters Phyllis Sulkowski of Richmond and Sue (Cliff) Krimmel of Richmond, and parents-in-law Claude and Inez Harmon of North Branch. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Tony Sulkowski and nephew Kenneth Jakubiak. A funeral Mass will be said Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 10:00 am in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Columbus Twp. Fr. Joseph Horn and Mr. Jakubiak's nephew, Fr. Anthony Sulkowski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 and Monday from 3 to 8 in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:00 in the church. A rosary will be said Monday at 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Family Parish or Blue Water Hospice.
