Thelma Townsend

THELMA "HESTER" TOWNSEND age 91 of Marine City died Friday, March 14, 2008 in Medilodge of St. Clair after an extended illness. Mrs. Townsend was born October 24, 1916 in Natural Bridge, Alabama to the late John and Mae (West) Rowe. She married Cecil Townsend in Alabama on February 25, 1937. Mr. Townsend died October 8, 2001. Hester retired in 1971 as a supervisor for CNA Insurance Company. She enjoyed making porcelain dolls. Hester is survived by her daughter, Judy and John Ringel of Casco and son, Gary and Karen Townsend of Florida, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her grandson, David Ringel August 25, 1999 and siblings Morris, Travis and Wayman Rowe and Marjorie Morphew. A private burial was on Sunday, March 16, 2008 in Richards Cemetery in Richmond Township, Michigan. Reverend Gerhardt Doroh officiated. Arrangements were handled by Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond.
