Thelma Mae Cole

THELMA MAE COLE age 83 of Romeo died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Cole was born March 14, 1929 in Washington Township, Michigan to the late Fred and Ila (Hess) Backenstose. Thelma worked as a nurse for many years. She was an active member of the Orchard Community Church in Bruce Twp. and was a member of the prayer chain team. She delivered Meals on Wheels, worked at the Samaritan House, liked to knit, do puzzles and garden. She loved to spend time with her children, siblings and grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Brian Bohr of Dryden, Charlene (Jerome) Macuga of New Baltimore, Sheila Whitaker of Almont, Sonsee (Brian) Gardner of Dryden and Robin (Jason) Beeman of Macomb, sister; Jeannette Viant of Imlay City, brother Frederick (MaryLou) Backenstose of Sheridan, WY., six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law; Erma Backenstose of Gaylord and Alene Backenstose of Florida. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Bernice (Edward) Rolph, Gerald Backenstose and Bruce Backenstose. Her cremated remains will be buried in the Powell Cemetery in Washington Township.
