Terry "Rip" Carpenter, 78, of Levering, passed away unexpectedly at his home Monday, June 19, 2017. Born May 23, 1939 to the late Bruce and Zelma Carpenter; Survived by his siblings, Larry (Lou) Carpenter and Carole (Ray) Evans. Loving father of Kerstin (Pete) Schultz; And caring grandfather of Joseph and Chelsea Gurzick.
Rip graduated from Richmond High School in 1957. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Following service, he traveled to Minnesota and Idaho to pursue a career as an Arborist. He worked for Asplundh Tree Expert Co. prior to starting his own company with Tim Abbott, Trees & Stumps of Magic Valley. In 2002, Rip retired and moved back to Levering, Michigan.
Rip had a strong love for the outdoors. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and snowmobile, boating, jet skiing, water skiing, and camping. He also loved to read Western books, play Euchre, and cheer on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Rip was authentic. His sense of humor always lightened the room and his homecomings were pure excitement in everyone's hearts. He was strong and proud until his very last day and that is how he will be remembered. He was a truly outstanding man and will be deeply missed by everyone that was lucky enough to meet him.
Rip requested that no services occur, so a celebration of his life will commence at a later date.
