Susan Jean Treend

Susan J. Treend (Stelmack), age 79, died February 3, 2023 in her daughter’s home surrounded by love after an extremely brave and difficult 18 month battle with cancer.  Sue was born July 19, 1943 to Stephen and Betty Stelmack and lived in Memphis her entire life.  She graduated from Memphis High School in 1961 and went on to work for Memphis Community Schools where she retired following 35 years of dedicated employment. Sue loved watching her grandkids play sports and traveled to many places to support them.  Her presence was always noticed and her loyalty to her grandkids was remarkable.  She never missed an event or school function and was an avid Richmond Blue Devil supporter.  One of her favorite places to travel to was the Little River Casino where she enjoyed playing the slot machines.  She was known as “Dada” to many and was loved by everyone who was blessed with knowing her. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-laws, Debbie (Larry) Cottington and Kelly (Lloyd Hulbert) Davenport; grandchildren, Angela (Nick) Maas, Chelsey (Tom) Hull, Ryan (Alissa) Gallagher, Aspen Davenport and Hudson Davenport; great-grandchildren, Landon, Graham, Kinsley and Lucas; bonus grandkids, Dexter, Kally, Emily, Brant and Blake (Rose); 5 bonus great-grandkids;  father of her children, Terry Treend; sister, Mary (Phil) Lambert; and brother, Steve (Barb) Stelmack.  She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Kathleen; brother, Butch; and son-in-law, Derik Davenport.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, with visitation from 4-7 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 7 PM with Rev. Gerhardt Doroh and Pastor Randy Lett officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to the family wishes.
