Stephen Anthony Rubrich, 86 of St. Clair Shores formerly of Sterling Heights died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in St. Johns Macomb Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Yugoslavia on May 5, 1922 to the late Stefan and Theresa (Dryer) Rubrich. He married Marian Gratopp in Detroit on January 23, 1943. Stephen served as a World War II Combat Medic in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Bruce Post in St. Clair Shores and enjoyed working at the flea market. He is survived by his children James (Nancy) Rubrich of Columbus Township, Stephen (Camille) Baker of Shelby Township, Celene Jesse of Clinton Township, and Nancy Lumetta of St. Clair Shores, brother Christian (Theresa) Rubrich of Harper Woods, sister-in-law Rita Rubrich of Mt. Clemens, grandchildren David, Jeffery, and Christopher Rubrich and Jennifer Rester, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian on January 10, 1993, brother Jack Rubrich, and granddaughter Sarah Lynn Rubrich in December 2000. Visitation will be Saturday, July 5, 2008 from 3 pm to 9 pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. A veteran service will be at 7 pm in the funeral home. A private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp. at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
