SHIRLEY (HASELHUHN) SULLIVAN passed away peacefully on November 2, 2014 after a long illness, at Medilodge of Richmond. Shirley was born June 24, 1927 in Richmond, MI to Erwin and Mabel (Cotton) Haselhuhn. She attended West Country School and Richmond High School, where she graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1945. She was raised in the Methodist Church, but converted to the Catholic faith when she married Leo Sullivan on September 4, 1948 in St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond, a day she called the happiest of her life. They were lifelong members of St. Augustine, which Leo's father and uncles helped to build, where Shirley and Leo and their children received all the sacraments, and where all their children attended school. Shirley raised her family at the Sullivan homestead in Lenox, where she lived all her married life. Her saddest day was the day she lost her lifetime love, companion and friend "Sully". Shirley was a kind, giving person with a great sense of humor. She loved and took great pride in her family. She and Leo loved to travel, visit friends and family, and spend time at their cabin on Shoepac Lake in Onaway. She was an avid baker, and was famous for her fudge. Her favorite times were family gatherings; holidays, birthdays, or just evenings gathered around the table for dinner. Shirley is survived by her four children, Michael Sullivan of Richmond, Mary Jane (Fred) Sullivan of Minnetonka, MN, John (Julie) Sullivan of Windsor Ont. and Patrick (Amy) Sullivan of Northville, MI., grandchildren: Sean Sullivan, Katie Wenner, Austin Sullivan, Casey Sullivan, Adam Logan, Delaney Sullivan, and Annie Sullivan, three great-grandchildren and brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Karen Haselhuhn of Richmond and niece and nephew Kimberly and Keith Haselhuhn. Services to celebrate the life of Shirley Jeanne Sullivan will be held at St. Augustine Church on Friday, November 7th at 10:00a. Friends may call at the Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond on Thursday from 3 to 8:00pm and on Friday from 9:30 to 10am in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to celebrate Shirley's life be made to Richmond Catholic Education Foundation for St. Augustine School.
