SHIRLEY R. MURPHY age 74 of Dryden, formerly of Romeo and Marlette died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 after an extended illness. Mrs. Murphy was born August 5, 1940 in Ashville, NC to the late Romulus and Mary (Lyda) Bell. She graduated from Swannanoa High School in 1958 and attended college for two years earning her X-ray technician degree. She married Lee Marett in NC in 1960. Mr. Marett died in 1967. She married Wayne Lee in Romeo on February 7, 1969. Mr. Lee died on October 23, 1993. She then married Monroe Murphy in Roseville on March 17, 1995. Shirley worked as the office manager for Rochester Anesthesia Group for sixteen years. She enjoyed her I-Pad and her little Yorkie, "Millie". She is survived by her husband, Monroe "Mo", daughter, Marilyn (Rick) Miller of Dryden, stepchildren; Yvonne (Dave) Meyer of Imlay City, John (Christina) Murphy of Capac, Ted Murphy of Dryden, Paul Murphy of Armada, Sally (Tim) Idalski of St. Ignace, Monroe Murphy of Kentucky and David (Leisa) Murphy of Capac, nineteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Karen Murphy on July 18, 1993 and granddaughter, Megan Murphy on February 3, 2002. A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond. Reverend Bryan Wise, pastor of the Community Baptist Church in Richmond will officiate. Burial will be in the Romeo Cemetery.
