Sally Diane Kus

SALLY DIANE KUS age 65 of Columbus Township, formerly of Marine City passed away Friday, March 20, 2009 in Port Huron Mercy Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Kus was born July 2, 1943 in St. Clair, Michigan to the late Edwin and Ann (Tomak) Verbrugge. She married Lawrence Kus in Richmond on March 26, 1977. Mr. Kus died May 30, 2002. Sally graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1961 and attended Port Huron Junior College for two years. She worked at Port Huron Mercy Hospital for over twenty years and then at St. John River District Women's Health Center until her retirement. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Columbus Township. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and watching "Jeopardy". She is survived by her daughter, Courtney Kus (John Cook), siblings, David (Gladys) Verbrugge, Mickey (Jack) Mapletoft and Beverly (Jack) Stoliker all of Columbus Twp.. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Nancy and special companion, "Tobie". A funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 10:00am in St. Philip Neri Church. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:00am in the church. In lieu of flowers Courtney has suggested donations for trees to be planted as a living memorial of her mother's life and a symbol of her strength.
