Ruth Zavitz

Ruth W. Mitten-Zavitz, 90 of Emmett died Monday, March 16, 2009 in Marwood Manor Nursing Home, Port Huron after an extended illness. She was born in Detroit on December 29, 1918 to the late Edward and Emma (Mienke) Mitten. She married Bruce Zavitz in Detroit on October 26, 1940. Mrs. Zavitz was a member of Richmond Assembly of God Church, Lenox Twp. and enjoyed landscaping, decorating, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughters Marlene Zavitz, Marilyn Francek, and Tracy (Gary) Nichols all of Emmett and Diane Drinkard of Port Huron, sisters Eunice Titus of Memphis and Frances Hoffman of Chesterfield, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce on August 3, 1999, brother Edward Mitten, and sisters Dorothy Miller and Vera Croft. A funeral service will be Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Mrs. Zavitz's nephew, Rev. Alvin Titus will officiate. Burial will be in Richards Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 8 and Thursday from 10 to 11 in the funeral home.
