Rodney S.J. Gilbert

RODNEY S.J. GILBERT age 70, a forty seven year resident of Lenox Township, MI. passed Thursday, April 1, 2010 in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Gilbert was born September 7, 1939 in Grant, Oklahoma to the late Silas and Cletes (Dill) Gilbert. He married Patricia Hernden in New Haven, MI. on September 18, 1961. Rod took a medical retirement from Ford Motor Company in 1996 after working as a welder for 28 ½ years. He was a member of UAW Local 400. He previously owned "Rod's Welding" and enjoyed shooting pool, working on cars, fishing and going to the casino. He is survived by his wife, Pat, children, Cynthia (James) Willey of Algonac, Rodney II "Jay" of New Haven, John Gilbert of New Haven and Janice (Tony) Woodruff of New Haven, siblings, A.J. Gilbert of Fla., Dorothy Wilson of Fla., Frieda (Jack) Curtin of Fla. and Kathleen Black of N. MX, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Randall Gilbert and Josephine Ellison. Cremation arrangements were handled by Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond, MI.
