RAYMOND FELIX MAZUR 92 of Troy, Michigan died unexpectedly Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. Mr. Mazur was born March 4, 1922 in Richmond, MI. to the late Casimer and Caroline (Gajek) Mazur. He married Carolyn Hughey in Selma, AL on December 19, 1945. Mrs. Mazur died December 19, 2010. Ray graduated from Richmond High School in 1940, earned his Bachelor's Degree in animal husbandry from Michigan State Agricultural College and his Masters Degree in dairy science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. He worked as a salesman for the Sunbeam Corp., managed the Maskill's Hardware in Birmingham and enjoyed farming and traveling. He was an alumnus of Michigan State University and member of the Farm House Fraternity, the Polish Numismatist Coin Club and the Congregational Church of Birmingham. He is survived by his children; R. Darryl (Christine) Mazur of Jackson, David (Arlene) Mazur of Las Vegas and Debra Mazur of Troy, sisters; Geraldine Jankowski of Mt. Clemens and Lillian Miekszytyn of Warren, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his brothers; Joseph, John, Theodore, Norman and Daniel Mazur.
A funeral service will be on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond. Mr. Mazur's grandson, Justin Mazur, elder of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Bradenton, FL will officiate. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Visiting will be on Saturday from 10 to 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested for: Farm House Fraternity, MSU Chapter, 151 Bogue St., East Lansing, MI. 48823 or the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, 535 Chestnut Road, Room 300, East Lansing, MI. 48824.
