Paul Edward Mcconnell
January 16, 1928 — January 8, 2018
Paul Edward McConnell, 89, of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 8, 2018.
Paul was born and raised in Warren, Michigan the son of Paul and Margaret (Doerr) McConnell. In his early years, Paul would help on the family's gladiolus farm, Warren Gladiolus Farm. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 serving time in Germany and earning an Army of Occupation medal. In 1956, Paul married the love of his life Barbara (Rumble) McConnell after meeting on a blind date. He was a doting husband to Barb for 56 wonderful years until her passing in 2012.
He had a passion for antiques and owned an antique mall in Richmond, Michigan with wife Barb for 23 years. He not only took pride in his business, but truly relished the friends made through antiques over the years. Paul loved good food, socializing, photography, cars, animals, and always had a smile on his face.
Paul leaves his son Jeffrey (Jan) McConnell; daughter Kelly (Jim) Ertman; grandchildren Jenny Ertman (partner Steve Douglas), Jim (Becky) Ertman, Tiffany Santini, Jamie (Jeff) Stanley, Michael (Danielle) Smith, Angela Smith, Ethan McConnell; great grandchildren Adelina Ertman, Eloise Ertman, Jenna Stanley, Logan Stanley, Christopher Smith, and Emilee Smith; and many close friends. Preceded in death by his brothers Bob and Jim McConnell.
A memorial service will be held at Columbus Bible Church, 1770 Palms Road, Columbus, Michigan on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Visitation will be at 10am followed by a service at 11am.
