Norman Stern

NORMAN KARL STERN 94, formerly of Emmett and Memphis died Wednesday, October 18, 2006 in Tawas Village Nursing Home in Tawas, Michigan. Mr. Stern was born November 20, 1911 in Casco Township to the late Herbert and Martha (Krause) Stern. He married Elinor Ann Spencer in Richmond on October 5, 1935. Mrs. Stern died May 13, 1999. Norman graduated from Richmond High School and was an area farmer. He retired from the United States Post Office in Richmond in 1976. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond where he served as an elder. He was a former Columbus Township Supervisor and 4-H leader. He is survived by his daughters, Margo and Mauri Cahill of Interlochen and Jane and Larry Castle of Oscoda, grandchildren, Jill Hibbard, Terri Klug, Nicole Kriesch and Kenneth and Russell Smith, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his son, Jon Stern in 1963, granddaughter, Marla Montcastle in 1992 and siblings, Herbert, Desmond and Ruth Stern. A funeral service will be on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 10:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend Gerhardt Doroh, pastor of St. Peters will officiate. Burial will be in Richmond Cemetery. Visiting will be Friday from 3 to 8pm and Saturday from 9 to 10am. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Peter's adult choir fund or Tawas Village.
