Norman Hopp, 89 of Houston, Texas formerly of Richmond died Friday, March 20, 2009 in Park Manor Nursing Home, Houston. He was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on October 31, 1919 to the late Hawley and Minnie (Baker) Hopp. He married Ethel Meirow in Almont, Michigan on April 7, 1945. Mr. Hopp owned and operated the Richmond Hotel from 1952 to 1968 and the Yale Hotel from 1969 to 1972. He is survived by his sons Alan (Sandra) Hopp of Houston, TX and James Hopp of Kansas, brother Lester Hopp, grandchildren Melissa (Andy) Ziemer, Kyle (Jamie) Hopp, and Cory (Jennifer) Hopp, great-grandchildren Ashley, Madison and Joshua Ziemer and Gabriel Hopp. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel on April 21, 2000 and son Richard on August 7, 1962. A funeral service will be Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Rev. Jennifer Long, pastor of First United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Cemetery, Clinton Twp. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 and Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed towards the First United Church of Christ, Richmond.
