MICHAEL JOSEPH DOBRUK age 55, a lifelong resident of Richmond died unexpectedly on Monday, January 13, 2015. Mr. Dobruk was born January 8, 1960 in Mount Clemens to Stanley and Mary (Collins) Dobruk. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1978 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Michigan University in 1983. He married Tammy McDowell in Richmond on August 20, 1983. Mike was a teacher in several schools including St. Catherine's in Algonac, Richmond, Sacred Heart in Mount Pleasant and St. Martin Luther The King in Detroit. He currently was working as an in-home salesman for Home Depot. Mike loved coaching and was currently the football coach at Armada High School. In the past thirty years he has coached football, baseball and basketball. He was a member of the Richmond Alumnus Baseball Club. He is survived by his wife, Tammy, son, Trevor of Richmond, father, Stanley Dobruk of AL, sister, Diane Recor of AL, mother-in-law, Patsy McDowell of Roseville, sister-in-law, Stacy (Felix) Payette of Roseville, niece and nephews; Felix Payette Jr, Heather Kandler-Catron and Aaron and Todd Kandler. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dobruk, sister, Marilyn LaValla and father-in-law, Donald McDowell. A funeral Mass will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 9:30am in St. Augustine Catholic Church. Reverend Phil Ching, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visiting will be Friday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond with a scripture service at 6:00pm and Saturday from 9 to 9:30 in the church. Memorial contributions are suggested for the wishes of the family or the IMPACT organization which benefits special needs people.
