MERLE ELMER DUPEE age 88 of Columbus Township died unexpectedly in his home on April 27, 2013. Mr. Dupee was born August 9, 1924 in Columbus Twp. to the late William and Julia (Hyslop) Dupee. He graduated from Northeastern High School in Detroit in 1943 and entered the United States Army/Air Force. He served with the 451st Bombardment Group as a tail gunner during WWII. After WWII he re-enlisted in the Air Force where he remained until his retirement. After retirement he worked as a security guard for the Brinks Corp. Merle was a member of the Michigan Chapter VFW #15023 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed having daily breakfast with his friends at Ted's Coney Island in Richmond. He is survived by his sister, Vada Nix of Attica, nieces; Marilyn Nix of Bloomfield Hills and Denise (John) Feldmann of Goodrich, nephew; Virgil (Kathleen) Dupee Jr. of Oilton, OK and special friend, Mark Farquhar Sr. of Memphis. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 10:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend Kelsay Parker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond will officiate. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Visiting will be on Tuesday, April 30th from 3 to 8pm and Wednesday from 9 to 10am.
