Mary R. Tessmer

MARY RUTH TESSMER age 92 of Bear Lake, Mi, formerly of Richmond died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in the Munson Medical Center in Traverse city, MI. Mrs. Tessmer was born August 26, 1921 in Hillman, MI to the late Edward and Elsie (Cripps) Cohoon. She married Henry Tessmer in Alpena, Mi on October of 1939. Mr. Tessmer died December 13, 1986. For many years Mary owned and operated a beauty salon and was a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Port Huron. She enjoyed cooking, having family get-togethers and her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; Joyce and David Daigle of Bear Lake, son-in-law; Les Winters of Memphis, siblings; Stephen Cohoon of Indian River, Dale Cohoon of Hartland and Edwin Cohoon of Lachine, six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carole Winters in 2007 and siblings; Burton and Perry Cohoon, Eva Goodwin and Mildred Clewley. A funeral service will be at 10am on Friday, January 3, 2014 in Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond. Reverend Andrew Schroeder, pastor of Holy Redeemer Church will officiate. Visiting will be on Thursday, January 2nd from 3 to 8pm and Friday from 9 to 10am. Burial will be in Cadillac memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township. Memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Redeemer Church or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manistee.
