Marvin L. Fistler

MARVIN L. FISTLER age 85, a lifelong Richmond resident died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 peacefully in his home with family after a brief illness. Mr. Fistler was born October 3, 1924 at the family farm in Lenox Township, MI. to the late Oscar and Elizabeth (Gombert) Fistler. He married Dorothy Bremerkamp at St. John's Church in New Haven, MI. on July 5, 1947. After marrying Dorothy, he worked at Art Rowley farms on M-19, as a foreman at Knight Morley auto mirror supplier in Richmond and up to his retirement in 1986, as head custodian at Richmond High School for twenty-six years. He especially enjoyed family, particularly time spent with his eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Over the years his hobbies included fishing for Northern pike at Drummond Island, RVing, shuffleboard, gardening, playing cards and watching the lake freighters on the St. Clair River. Both Marv and Dorothy will be remembered as devoted caregivers for several family members. Marvin is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Susanne and Eugene Jakubiak of Marysville and Terri and Gary Hay of Milan, Ohio, his six siblings, August of Richmond, Edward (Katie) of Lenox, Isabel (John) Willing of Almont, Norman (Beverly) of St. Helen, Joyce (Robert) Hartway of Richmond and Richard (Virginia) of Armada. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, February 3, 1999, his son-in-law, Joseph Krause on April 25, 1987 his step-mother, Freida (Stachel)on September 5, 1990 and special friend, Verta Smith on December 6, 2009. Visitation will be on Friday, February 12th from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. and 10 to 11am on Saturday, February 13th at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am Saturday, Feb 13, 2010 in the church with Reverends Gerhardt Doroh and Randy Lett officiating. Entombment will be in the Richmond Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested for St. Peter's Church or the Hospice of Michigan
