Marie C. Rhein

MARIE CAROLINE RHEIN age 91, a lifelong resident of Chesterfield Township died Sunday, November 30, 2014 in the Evangelical Home in Sterling Heights after a brief illness. Mrs. Rhein was born November 7, 1923 in Detroit to the late Paul and Lorinda (Salter) Malburg. She married Elmer Rhein in Utica on November 15, 1947. Mr. Rhein died March 20, 2007. Marie was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond and the Altar Soldality. She enjoyed cooking and was a caterer for many years. She also enjoyed doing jig saw puzzles and playing rummy and euchre. Marie is survived by her children; Hank (Mary) Rhein of Armada, Marv (Lisa) Rhein of Chesterfield, Shirley Rhein of Almont, Kathy (Randy) Patterson of Shelby Twp, Theresa (Chris) Best of Beavercreek, OH. and Elaine Rhein of Clinton Twp, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and siblings; Raymond (Barbara) Malburg of Capac, Clarence (Marcella) Malburg of Macomb and Dorothy (Raymond) Muylaert of Almont, and sister-in-law Margaret Malburg of Yale. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Rhein on January 31, 1978 and siblings Norbert Malburg and Margie Rhein. A Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, December 4th at 10:00am in St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond. She will lie in state from 9:30 to 10:00am. Reverend James Commyn will officiate. Burial will be in St Michael Cemetery. Visiting will be on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond with a scripture service at 6:30pm and Thursday. Memorial contributions are suggested for the Janice Rhein Scholarship Fund or Richmond Catholic Education Foundation for St. Augustine School.
