Margaret Mary Rettke
April 29, 1938 — May 2, 2019
Margaret Mary Rettke, 81, of Richmond, passed away on May 2, 2019 at The Village of East Harbor. Margaret was born April 29, 1938 to the late Herman and Margaret Ortwein. She was the beloved wife of Donald Rettke for 57 years; caring mother of Roger (Jean Marie) Rettke, Matt (Lisa) Rettke, Karen (Randy) Boehm and Janet (Kevin) Quant; cherished grandmother of Tyler, Tristan, Travis, Lindsey, Devin, Kyle, Kayla, Ryan, Brad and Logan.
Margaret graduated from Remus High School in 1956 and Central Michigan University in 1960. She was a devoted teacher of 35 years starting with high school home economics and finishing her career in the kindergarten classroom. She brought endless joy to her students with her annual kindergarten circus. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting and was involved in many clubs including Odds and Ends, Loose Threads and Blue Star Mothers of America which is an organization for women who have relatives in the military. She was proud to have both children and grandchildren who served in the U.S. Military in excess of 74 years combined. Margaret was a 50+ year parishioner at St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Sodality.
Visitation will be 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30, Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, MI 48062. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass, Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at
St. Augustine Catholic Church, 68035 Main St, Richmond, MI 48062.
