Leta M. Smith

LETA MAXINE SMITH age 90 of Lenox Township, formerly of Marine City died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Medilodge of Sterling Heights after an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born November 2, 1923 in Elkton, Michigan to the late Frank and Fannie (David) Severn and graduated from Elkton High School in 1941. She married Allen Smith in Owendale, MI on December 6, 1941. Mr. Smith died June 17, 1998. Leta was a member of the Marine City Senior Center and enjoyed sewing and doing needlepoint. She was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church. She is survived by her children; Lewis and Fonnie Smith of Lapeer, Robert and Marie Smith of Trenton, James and Madeline Smith of Alger and Sharon VanDam of Lenox, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her siblings; Beatrice Grunch, Clarence Severn and Eva Heck. A funeral service will be on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond. Bishop Thomas Jeffers of Riverview Community of Christ Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Visiting will be on Sunday, December 8th from 2 to 8:00pm and Monday from 10 to 11am.
