LENORE EMMA STENZEL age 97 of Richmond, formerly of Rose City, MI. died Sunday, April 29, 2012 in the Romeo Nursing Center after an extended illness. Mrs. Stenzel was born August 4, 1914 in Macomb Township, Michigan to the late Albert and Lena (Rachow) Kreger. She married Walter Stenzel in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Macomb Township on May 14, 1939. Mr. Stenzel died in 1994. Lenore graduated from Mount Clemens High School in 1921. In 1946 she and her husband moved their family to Rose City and later worked in both the cafeteria and library in the Rose City Public School System. She loved working with children. She was a very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in West Branch, MI. serving with the Ladies Aide, Women's Lutheran Missionary League and as a Sunday school teacher. She is survived by her son; Russell and Marlene Stenzel of Richmond, sister; Pauline Smith of Washington Twp., MI., grandchildren; David (Dawn) and Cory (Kelly) Stenzel, Stephanie (Christopher )Weiss and Amanda Stenzel, great-grandchildren; Taylor, David Jr., Garrett, Jackson and Carter Stenzel and Aaron Weiss and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Stenzel on January 4, 2012 and sister-in-law; Lyla Robinson. A funeral service will be on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:00am in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Richmond. Reverend Randy Lett, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Macomb Township. Visiting will be on Wednesday from 2 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Thursday from 10:30 to 11am in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. John's Lutheran church in West Branch.
