LAWRENCE MERLE SHUE age 88 of Columbus Township died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, MI. Mr. Shue was born July 9, 1923 in Richmond Township to the late Clare and Frances (Pratt) Shue. He married Luella Hebel in Richmond on August 28, 1948. Lawrence graduated from Richmond High School in 1941 and served in the United States Army during World War II serving in Burma, India and China. He retired after fifty years service to Mitchell Buick in Mount Clemens after serving as their used car manager and sales manager of Mitchell Buick Honda. He was a thirty year member of Columbus Bible Church serving as chairman of the church board, usher and greeter. He was a member of the Richmond Sportsman Club, East Wings Radio Control Club, charter member of the VFW Post in Richmond, N.R.A. and the F.O.P. in Mount Clemens. He enjoyed hunting and collecting guns. He is survived by his wife, Luella, children, Larry Shue of Richmond, Dennis Shue of St. Clair Shores and Bronwen Abel of Casco, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Shue on April 8, 2011, brother, Earl Shue in December of 2003, son-in-law, Ray Abel on January 27, 1999 and an infant brother, Charles. A funeral service will be on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11:00am in the Columbus Bible Church. Reverend Woodrow Nelson, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Kittridge Cemetery, Snyderville under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans. Visiting will be on Friday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:00am in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Columbus Bible Church, donor's choice or the wishes of the family.
