Kenneth Allen Geil of Richmond passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, following an extended illness. He was 85 years old. Ken was born on September 10, 1937, to Theodore and Mildred Geil. He spent his early childhood years in Detroit until the family moved to Richmond in 1949. He graduated from Armada High School in 1955 and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He furthered his education at Macomb Community College and pursued a career in accounting, working at Cross Manufacturing as a cost accountant. In his leisure time, Ken enjoyed playing golf, watching Detroit Tigers games, reading, gardening, and serving his church, St. Peter’s Lutheran in Richmond, where he had been a member since 1949. For many years, he served as church treasurer, as well as on numerous church committees. He also enjoyed getting away from the Michigan winters by spending time in Florida. Ken was a bachelor for much of his life until he met and married Marlyce Krukowski . Together, they traveled extensively, visiting the Caribbean, Italy, Greece, and Australia, as well as Florida in the winter. They also enjoyed playing cards with friends, going out to dinner, and playing golf until Marlyce’s health kept her from doing so. She passed away on September 2, 2022. Ken is survived by his sister, Nancy Reeves; his niece, Monica (David) VanDerWeide; his nephew, Jonathan (Diana) Reeves; great-nieces Meredith and Laura VanDerWeide; great-nephew Matthew Reeves; step-children Lynn Krukowski, Cheryl Jones, Duane Krukowski, Jan (Karen) Krukowski, Joseph Krukowski, Matthew (Jamie Lantagne) Krukowski, and Gregory Krukowski.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Service, Thursday, August 17, 2023, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church 67055 Gratiot Ave, Richmond, MI 48062 with Reverend Mark Haller officiating. Interment will be at Richards Cemetery in Richmond Township. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
