Joann Boyd

MARY JOANN BOYD 74 a lifelong resident of Columbus Township died Thursday, September 6, 2007 in Port Huron Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Boyd was born June 10, 1933 in Columbus Township to the late Thomas and Kathryn (McKiernan) Ward. She married John Boyd in Richmond on July 2, 1960. JoAnn graduated in 1951 from St. Augustine Catholic School and went on to graduate from St. Joseph School of Nursing in London, Ontario. She worked as the safety nurse for Valasic Pickles in Memphis and Imlay City. JoAnn was a member of Holy Family Parish (formerly All Saints Catholic Church) in Memphis and was an avid fan of the Notre Dame's Fighting Irish football league and the Detroit Tigers. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, crocheting and spending time at all her grandchildren's games and activities. She is survived by her husband, John, sons, Thomas and Becky of Rochester, Dennis and Sue of Casco, Dr. Brian and Sue of Casco and Gary and Kelly of Richmond, brothers, William Ward of New Baltimore and Thomas and Marilyn Ward of Casco and twelve grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Lynn Ward, Jack and Mary Ward and Donna Ward. A funeral service will be on Wednesday at 9:30am in Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond followed by a Mass at 10:30am in Holy Family Parish in Memphis. Reverends Dennis Nowinski and Erwin Bauer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery in Columbus Township. Visiting will be Monday from 5 to 8pm and Tuesday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm on Tuesday.
