Joan Lorraine Smalley
February 27, 1935 — August 5, 2017
Joan Lorraine Smalley, 82, of Casco, was called to her heavenly home Saturday, August 5, 2017 surrounded by her family. Joan was born to the late George and Kathleen Carey February 27, 1935. She was a 1953 graduate of Pershing High School. Beloved wife of the late Henry "Joe" Smalley; Caring mother of Pamela (David) Erickson, Douglas (Dorothy) Smalley, David (Kelly) Smalley and Joseph (Amy) Smalley; Special grandmother of Jason, Megan, Daniel, Joseph, Alexa, Corinne, Stephen Jr., Michelle, Katie, Taylor and Joey; Great grandmother of James, Bella and Corbin. Also, survived by her daughter-in-law Lori Smalley. Preceded in death by her son Stephen Smalley, grandson Justin, great grandson Colin and her siblings George, Herbert, Theresa and Geraldine. Joan was a long time parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Sodality, Wings and several local Red Hat chapters and enjoyed volunteering at the Richmond Community Food Pantry. She was an avid Tigers fan and loved to watch Jeopardy. Joan was a retiree of Richmond Community Schools.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9 and 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, MI 48062.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 68035 Main St, Richmond, MI 48062.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Richmond Community Food Bank.
