Jerome Joseph Barton, 85, of Riley Twp., passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Jerome was born April 12, 1938 to the late Joseph and Lillian Barton. Loving husband of the late Marilyn Barton; cherished father of Dennis Barton, Denise Matthes, Diane (John) Cannon and Derrick Barton; grandfather of Kelley (Sam Addobbo) Barton and Stephanie (Jeff) Deliz; great grandfather of Madilyn and Aubrey. Preceded in death by his daughter Debra Barton. Jerome enjoyed working on cars was employed by General Motors at the GM Tech Center for 27 years. Jerome, known as Jerry to his family and friends, was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed many days on Lake St. Clair duck hunting, fishing and boating and in the winter, Jerry was involved with ice boating. After retirement he often rode his Harley-Davidson with friends and spent time socializing at bingo and church. Many days were filled with hunting for unique items and looking for the next good deal to share with his family.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Holy Family Parish, 79780 Main St, Memphis, MI 48041.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society, 6266 Lapeer Road, North Street, MI 48049.
