Janice I. Weinert-Reed

JANICE IRENE WEINERT-REED age 73 of Columbus Twp. died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 12, 2013. She was born February 11, 1940 to the late Robert and Florence (Bettcher) Hurttgam. She married Louis Reed in Richmond on February 14, 1981. Janice graduated from Richmond High School in 1957 and worked as a bartender at Emil's and the Cook Hotel for many years. She enjoyed talking with people, flower gardening, golfing and reading, especially the "Chicken Soup" series. She is survived by her husband, Louis, children; Terri Bolla of St. Clair, Jackie Achatz of Warren, William Weinert of Goodells and Judy Cheney of Waseca, MN, siblings; Helene Smith of National City, Richard (Mary) Hurttgam of Livonia, Delores Schook of National City, Robert (Billie) Hurttgam of Burchville Twp. and John (Pat) Hurttgam of Brown City, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law; Chris Achatz and grandson, Frank Achatz. A funeral service will be on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 6:30pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond with visiting from 12 noon to the time of service. Reverend Kelsay Parker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
