James Philip Smith

James Philip Smith 79, of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. James was born on November 28, 1943, to the late Myron P. Smith and Ellavienne Smith. After high school James enlisted in the United States Navy. He served for 4 years as a Second-Class Petty Officer. James met the love of his life the late Carol Ann Smith. They were married for 57 years.  They have two sons Michael (Heather) and Jeffrey (Stephanie) Smith. Grandfather of Kyle (Chrissy), Ashley (Richard), Cody (E.J.), Kristine (Jon), and Justin (Ryan). Papa Jeep to Payton, Makayla, and Jace. Also, survived by his siblings Joyce (Bob), Jay (Sharon), Sister in-law Rosie Chartrand, and Brother in-law Michael Maurin and Harvey Brown (Maryann). Proceeded in death by Sister in-law Shirley Maurin, brother in-law Tom Chartrand, and other brother/sister in-laws. After working at Chrysler for 30 plus years, he was able to retire early and enjoy his favorite things. James enjoyed spending time at his cottage with his family in Caseville. James loved cheering for the Detroit Lions and Red wings. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. James was a loving Husband, Father, Brother Grandfather, Papa Jeep, and Uncle. We are at peace knowing he will be reunited with his sweetheart. “Yes Dear”.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Service Friday, September15, 2023 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker lane, Richmond, MI 48062.
