Irene Swantek

IRENE L. SWANTEK age 80 of Columbus Township died Friday, September 28, 2007 in her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was born October 16, 1926 in Detroit to the late Stanley and Mary (Miranda) Kubicki. She married Hubert "Hub" Swantek in Detroit on April 23, 1949. Mr. Swantek died on January 7, 1994. Irene was a gifted educator who taught elementary school for thirty-five years at the Will L. Lee School in Richmond. She earned her Masters Degree from Wayne State University. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond Lioness Club, Richmond Community Theater where she enjoyed performing and volunteering her talents. She enjoyed feeding the birds and wild animals and reading. She is survived by her children, Mark Swantek of Columbus Twp., Philip and Beth Swantek of Royal Oak, Kathleen and William Swantek-Cooper of St. Clair, Karen and Ron Wesley of Troy and Kristine and Russell Spiars of Zionville, Indiana, a sister Jean Flemming of N.C., sister-in-law, Anita Dembeck of Grosse Pointe Woods, grandchildren, Jordan Cooper, Jennifer and Mark Swantek, Jasen and Sarah Wesley, Jessica, Kathryn, Anna and Kelly Spiars, Phillip, Jesse and Elizabeth Swantek and her great-granddaughter, Lillian Swantek. Her family is grateful to God for her 80 years of love and life.
