Holly Schmidt

HOLLY SCHMIDT age 55 of Columbus Township died Saturday, October 29, 2011 in her home after a long and valiant fight with cancer. Mrs. Schmidt was born November 28, 1955 in Royal Oak, MI. to Ralph and Shirley (Lane) Kuenz. She married Edward Schmidt in Oakland County on March 27, 1980. Holly graduated from Redford High School in 1974 and attended Henry Ford Community College for one year. She was employed as a dispatcher for the Richmond Police Department for the past twelve years. Holly was a member of Holy Family Parish in Memphis where she helped form the Divine Mercy Group. She was a former member of the First Friday Club and taught catechism at St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Clair and St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Columbus Twp. She was the secretary of the Richmond Police Officers Assoc. and participated in the "Shop with a Cop" program and helped deliver the Thanksgiving food baskets. She enjoyed reading, cooking, singing, dancing and drinking coffee with her friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Edward, daughters, Grace (Christopher) Stein of Columbus, Leslie (Matthew) Goodwin of Sandusky, Michelle Schmidt of Columbus and Eleanor Schmidt of Columbus, father; Ralph Kuenz of Shelby, sisters; Kathleen Kuenz of TN., twin sister, Tani (John) Schneider of Shelby, Mikey (John) Terry of UT. and Jean (James) Bess of Shephard, MI. and grandchildren, Benjamin Stein, and Noah and Madelyn Goodwin. A funeral service will be on Thursday, November 3rd at 10:00am in All Saints Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish in Memphis. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery in Pigeon, MI. Visiting will be Tuesday from 4 to 8pm, Wednesday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:00am in the church. A rosary will be on Wednesday at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
