Hildegarde Sharon Laich, 88, of Lenox, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024. Hildegarde was born July 17, 1936 to the late Willie and Annette (Zajac) Bewersdorff. Cherished wife of the late Carl Laich; loving mother of Cynthia Laich, Carol Laich, Catherine (John) Hicks and Cherlyn (Mark) Prisby; adored grandmother of Ronald (Kelly) Garberson. Crystal Garberson, Heidi Wahl, Eric (Sarah) Wahl, Sarah Clancy, Robert Clancy, Robert (Elizabeth) Hicks, Laura (Dan) Rowe, Jina Hamill, Amelia Hamill, Austin Prisby, Anika Prisby, Brent Prisby, Samantha (Alex) Cadieux and Jonathan (Karrie) Hicks; caring great grandmother of 20. Beloved sister of Dan Bewersdorff (Gayle), Ron Bewersdorff (Cindy), and sisters-in-law Suzanne Bewersdorff (Willy), Eleanore Cosgrove and Nancy Christoloveon. Hildegarde was preceded in death by her siblings Willy Bewersdorff (2019) and Jeanne Bewersdorff (2024) and brothers-in-law, John Cosgrove and Nick Christolveon. Hildegarde married Carl Laich in Richmond on July 14, 1956 and they spent 53 happy years together. She was a lifetime and active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church; where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. Her favorite church activities to be involved with were making her famous German Potato Salad for the bazaar and her weekly bible study. Hildegarde was an adventurer, flirt and had a keen sense of style. She always put her best foot forward no matter what the occasion. She enjoyed baking and cooking but could never share her recipes as she measured nothing. She was a gracious host and enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s activities, no matter where they were.
Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Rewalt-Peshek Funeral Home, 68655 Stoecker Lane, Richmond, MI 48062. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service on Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 67055 Gratiot Ave., Richmond, MI 48062.
