Herman Joseph Werner

HERMAN JOSEPH WERNER age 74, a thirty year resident of Lenox Twp. died Friday, July 6, 2012 in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Werner was born May 21, 1938 in Detroit to the late Francis and Bertha (Bagus) Werner. He married Gloria Block in Detroit on August 17, 1963. Herman served two years with the United States Army Reserves. He retired in 2001 from Chrysler Corp., ODMTC in Detroit as an electrician. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond and the De LaSalle chapter of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator and member of the 4th Degree. Herman was a member of the Great Lakes Antique Fire Apparatus Association. He enjoyed going to antique tractor shows, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife; Gloria, children; Connie (Michael) Mlot of Richmond, Christopher Werner of Richmond and Carolyn Werner of Warren, siblings; Francis (Karen) Werner of Luzerne and Sr. Mildred Werner S.S.J. of St. Clair Shores and grandchildren; Nicholas, Alyssa and Mikayla Mlot. He was preceded in death by an infant brother; Herman Francis Werner. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 10:00am in St. Augustine Church. Reverend Philip Ching will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visiting will be on Monday from 5 to 8pm and Tuesday from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond, and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:00am in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. John Hospice.
