Glenn A. Schweiger

GLENN ALBERT SCHWEIGER age 87 a lifelong resident of Casco Township died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in his home after an brief illness. Mr. Schweiger was born October 26, 1927 in Casco Township to the late Lawrence and Louise (Ulbrich) Schweiger. He married Irene Rumenapp in Anchorville, MI on June 25, 1949. Glenn worked as a carpenter and was a member of Carpeters Local #687 in Detroit for sixty-one years. He was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond and served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Richmond Council #2667 where he served as Grand Knight and was a devoted member of the 4th Degree. He enjoyed camping, traveling and mostly spending time with his family. Glenn was an avid baseball fan. He is survived by his wife Irene, children; Leonard (Vicki) Schweiger of Harsens Island, Sandra (John) Shuboy of Casco, Edward (Melodee) Schweiger of Casco, Cheryl (Donald) Riedel of Lenox, daughter-in-law, Terry Schweiger of Columbus Twp, Kathleen (David) Sparby of Venice, FL, Lorraine Leach of Casco, Ronald (Connie) Schweiger of Casco, Glenn (Molly) Schweiger of Casco, Janet (Nick) Dobson of Okemos, Daryl (LeAnn) Schweiger of Casco and James (Kathleen) Schweiger of Richmond, siblings; James (Phyllis) Schweiger of St. Clair Shores, Gerald (deceased Diane) Schweiger of Richmond and Elmer (Sue) Schweiger of Casco, Ethel (deceased Peter) Lang of Macomb, Dorothy (Earl) Dean of Fraser, sister-in-law, Martha Schweiger of Chesterfield, 36 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Mr. Schweiger was preceded in death by his son Lawrence Schweiger on July 18, 2010, adopted daughter Angelia Carroll on April 15, 2015 and his siblings; Lawrence Schweiger, Ruth Wieczorek and Mary Raska. A funeral Mass will be on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:00am in St. Augustine Church with visiting starting at 9:00am. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visiting will be on Thursday from 5 to 8pm and Friday from 2 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond with a Rosary recited at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested for St. Augustine Church or Richmond Catholic Education Foundation for St. Augustine School.
