George Kuzmenko

GEORGE KUZMENKO age 84, a lifelong resident of Richmond died unexpectedly on Monday, April 22, 2013. Mr. Kuzmenko was born June 17, 1928 in Detroit to the late Walter and Pauline (Afansenko) Kuzmenko. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1946 and attended Michigan Normal College for two years. He married Tillie Gerashenko on August 29, 1970 in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Detroit. Mrs. Kuzmenko died October 20, 2008. George worked as a bartender at the Statler Hilton Hotel in Detroit for over forty years. He was a member of the Bartenders Union and enjoyed farming, but his passion was his wife and spending time with her gardening or whatever else she wanted to do. George is survived by his sister-in-law, Lydia Dougherty of Bairdford, PA and nephew Alexander (Peri) Kuzmenko of Harsens Island, MI and many wonderful neighbors and friends. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Alexander on April 13, 2002 and Thelma on May 23, 1997. A funeral service will be on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Father Lev Kotistiansky, pastor of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church will officiate. Entombment will be in the Richmond Mausoleum. Visiting will be on Thursday, April 25th from 3 to 8pm and Friday from 9 to 10am.
