Gary Riggs

Gary Don Riggs, 62, of Columbus, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 unexpectedly in his home. He was born November 14, 1949 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the son of late Jim and Dorothy (Brown) Riggs. He was the 2nd of 6 siblings. He graduated in 1968 from Richmond High School. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he was employed at Ford Motor Company, Proving Grounds in Romeo, where he later retired as a test driver in 2002. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who regularly enjoyed trips to the Upper Peninsula and Canada. He is survived by his two daughters, Rachael (James) Courter of Haiti, and LuAnn (Aaron) Ososki of Flushing; grandchildren, Gabriel, Elisha, Grace, and Nehemiah Courter, Desirae Connell, Alex, Bryce and Amanda Ososki; two brothers, Edward (Nery) Riggs and Nathan (Christine) Riggs, all of Richmond; a sister, Sherry (Steve) Martin of Marysville; sister-in-law, Dalphine Riggs of Kentucky, a long time friend, Sue Priess of Imlay City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marquella Riggs in 1958; father, Jim Riggs in 1990; former wife and mother of his children, Linda (Gryskiewicz) Riggs in 1996; mother, Dorothy (Brown) Riggs in 2004 and brother, Richard Riggs in 2010. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 in Rewalt Funeral Home. Pastor James Courter, Gary's son-in-law, will officiate.
Burial will be in Kittridge Cemetery, Columbus. Pallbearers will be Nathan and Edward Riggs, Steve Martin, Aaron Ososki, Bob Syska and Gary Germonfrey. Memorials may be made to the family. For condolences visit: RewaltFuneralHome.
