Gary Ponder

GARY NOEL PONDER age 67 of Columbus Twp. died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in his home. He was born January 22, 1940 in Warren, Michigan to the late William and Lula (Moore) Ponder. Gary married Jerry Ann Wattle in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on January 16, 1960. He served in the United States Army and retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1995 where he worked on the assembly line. Gary was a member of the New Haven Am Vets Post #72 and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and mostly spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Jerry, son Donald Ponder of Columbus, daughter Dina (Eric) Steyer of New Baltimore, brothers Donald (Marge) Ponder of Maryland, James (Judy) Ponder of Columbus Twp., and Gordon (Crystal) Ponder of Richmond, sisters Irene (Jim) Harnish of Florida and Ruby (Jim) Gilliland of Florida, and grandchildren DJ Ponder, and Matthew and Sara Steyer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Sophia Ponder and his brother Marvin Hill. A funeral service will be held Friday April 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Rev. Gerhardt Doroh, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Richmond will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 9pm and Friday from 10 to 11am in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed towards the wishes of the family.
