FREDERICK PAUL STEMMLER age 95 of Lenox Township died Thursday, February 26, 2015 in his home. Mr. Stemmler was born June 15, 1919 in Detroit to the late Paul and Amalie (Elgert) Stemmler. He graduated from Detroit Eastern High School and married Theresia Disse on a "beautiful sunny day" on November 13, 1943. Mrs. Stemmler died on August 8, 2011. Fred was a veteran of the United States Navy and owned and operated Decca Pattern Company in Roseville for nearly fifty years where he was a wood pattern maker. He was a very devout member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond where he served as an elder and taught Sunday School and Bible Studies. Fred loved his God and his family above all else. He was a #1 fan of the Detroit Tigers and enjoyed swimming. He is survived by his children; Frederick Jr. (Janice) of Grosse Pointe, Joan (David) Stadler of Lathrup Village, Julie (John) Artis of Grosse Pointe, John (Janet) of Afton, TN, Carmen (Dan) Neaton of Lenox, Marga (Patrick) Coughlin of East China and Peter (Tammy) of Rockford, twenty - three grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife his was preceded in death by his son, Frank on April 5, 1955, daughter Crystal Byrnes on November 17, 1999, granddaughter Allison Riedy, great-granddaughter, Lucy Stemmler and siblings; Herbert, Edward and Harold Stemmler and Alma Phipps. A funeral service will be on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:00am in St. Peter Lutheran Church. Reverends Mark Haller, pastor and Gerhardt Doroh will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit under the auspices of the United States Navy. Visiting will be on Sunday, March 1st from 3 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond and Monday from 9 to 10am in the church. Memorial contributions are suggested for St. Peter Lutheran Church.
