FREDERICK EDWARD RUTH 86 of Columbus Township died Sunday, December 21, 2014 in his home after a brief illness. Mr. Ruth was born December 28, 1927 in Detroit to the late Edward and Emily Ruth. He married Bernice Perrin at Guardian Angel Church in Detroit on May 13, 1950. Fred retired in 1986 as a wood model maker at Fisher Body in Warren after thirty years. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes, target shooting and wood carving. Fred also was a long time rosary maker, making over one thousand rosaries. He is survived by his wife, Bernice, son, Dennis (Katherine) Ruth of Shelby Township, daughter, Lynn (Robert) Fillhart of Columbus Township, granddaughters; Sarah Ruth, Jennifer DaSilva and Alyssa Scalf, four great-grandchildren and sisters; Margaret Altimore and Nancy Reynolds. A funeral service was Tuesday, December 23rd at 10:00am in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond. Reverend Philip Ching, associate pastor officiated. Burial was in St. Michael Cemetery in Richmond. Arrangements were handled by Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond.
