FRANKLIN DELANO CALL age 77 of Mio, formerly of Troy died Friday, June 17, 2011 in Medilodge of Richmond after an extended illness. Mr. Call was born April 8, 1934 in Huntsville, AL. to the late Willie and Molly (Hill) Call. He married Marjorie Thorpe in Royal Oak on November 18, 1961. Mrs. Call died May 2, 1997. Frank graduated from Butler High School in Alabama and retired as a shipping and receiving clerk at Binks Manufacturing in Livonia in 1988. He then worked for the U.S. Forest Dept maintaining campsites for six years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star in both Highland Park and Troy. He enjoyed building model airplanes and boats. He is survived by his sons; Stephen and Darlene Thorpe of Richmond and Douglas and Susan Thorpe of Grand Haven, siblings, Willie and Anna Call of Clawson, Joyce Simpson of Warren and Larry and Georgia Call of Tuson, AZ., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his sisters; Marvene Pounders and Mae Coggins. A memorial service will be on Tuesday, June 21st at 10:00am in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Reverend Joseph Horn, pastor of Holy Family Parish, All Saints Catholic Church in Memphis will officiate. Visiting will be from 9 to 10am. Memorial contributions may be directed to Medilodge of Richmond, "Swing Fund in memory of Frank Call".
