Francis Edgar Bartell

Francis (Frank) Edgar Bartell, 88, passed away May 12, 2021. He was born on May 23, 1932 in St. Clair to the late Edward and M. Hazel Bartell. Frank married Donna Hollis on March 19, 1955 in Columbus, Michigan. Frank lived his entire life on his family’s Columbus Township farmland, sharing his gift of caring for animals and raising plants with many. He began his career in the grain elevator business in 1951 at the Richmond Farmers Elevator and retired in 2003 from Eastern Michigan Grain (now Star of the West) in Emmett. Frank served for many years on the Columbus Township Zoning Board of Appeals. He loved the land, recalling the histories of each farm, family, or parcel of land across the area. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Richmond. Frank is survived by daughters Kathi (Terry) Miller, Traci Bartell, and son-in-law Philip McKinney. Grandchildren Amelia and Aaron Miller.  Sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws Doris Essenburg, Jim (Barb) Hollis, David (Lisa) Hollis, Jackie Hollis and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, daughter Lori Bartell-McKinney and brother-in-law Duane Essenburg.

Visitation will be 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23 at First United Church of Christ, Richmond. Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday, May 24, 2021 at First United Church of Christ, 68651 S. Forest Ave, Richmond, Michigan 48062.
