EVELYN PEARL CHENE-BROWN age 91 of Hale, MI died Monday, January 27, 2014 in her son's home in Columbus Township, Michigan after a very brief illness. Mrs. Brown was born July 2, 1922 in Detroit to the late Ernest and Victaline Soulliere. She married Joseph Chene in Detroit on May 4, 1939. Mr. Chene died October 27, 1973. She married Douglas Brown in Hale on November 6, 1976. Mr. Brown died December 16, 2010. Evelyn worked as a director for the Senior Center in Hale for many years. She served as a missionary in Mexico for ten years and was a member of the Democratic Party and the VFW in Hale. She enjoyed crocheting and all crafts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing solitaire. She is survived by her children; Barbara (Edwin) Beers of Hale, Suzanne (Nick) Chene-Maltese of Clinton Township and Joseph (June) Chene of Columbus Township, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel in 2012, two brothers and eight sisters. Cremation arrangements were handled by Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond. A memorial service will be Saturday, February 22nd from 11am to 2:00pm in the Richmond Knights of Columbus hall, 68216 Grand Trunk Blvd, Richmond, Mi 48062 Reverend Joann Davis, pastor of the New Beginnings Ministries Church in Detroit will officiate.
